About Gavin
"The final aim and reason of all music is nothing other than the glorification of God and the refreshment of the spirit.”
― J.S. Bach

Gavin Klein is an internationally recognized organist and harpsichordist based in New England. He is an incoming graduate student at Yale University, where he will study under the direction of Dr. Martin Jean. Gavin recently graduated Cum Laude from the College of the Holy Cross where he earned a B.A. in Music, International Political Economy, and a minor in German Studies. While at Holy Cross, Gavin served as the college Organ Scholar, and studied under the tutelage of world renowned teacher, Dr. Ezequiel Menéndez. His past teachers include Dr. C. Henry Mason, William Ness, Kevin Neel, Johann Vexo, and Dr. Johann Klopp in both Harpsichord and Clavichord. Gavin was recently named in the Diapason Magazine's 20 under 30 and won second place in the 2025 National Undergraduate Organ Competition in Ottumwa, Iowa.
Gavin’s musical career began at a very young age, but took off during his time as a chorister singing in the choir at All Saints Episcopal Church in Worcester. As one of America's oldest continuously running choral programs, the choir of All Saints dates back to 1868 and is deeply rooted in the Anglican choral tradition. Gavin greatly attributes his desire to study organ and sacred music to his time growing up at All Saints. Since then, he has held numerous positions as organist at Rollstone Congregational Church (Fitchburg), St. Cyprian’s Episcopal Church (Boston), and for the Sisters of St. Benedict Center, MICM (Still River). Additionally, Gavin served as organ scholar for the Schola Cantorum at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in the summer of 2025. Presently, he is the organist at St Bernard’s Church in Worcester, where he plays the church’s historic Skinner Organ (Opus 781) and regularly plays Masses at St. Clement Eucharistic Shrine (Boston) and for the Trappist Monks at St. Joseph’s Abbey, OCSO (Spencer).
From 2020-2022, Gavin was the Artist-in-Residence at the Harvard Historical Society where he was instrumental in preserving and disseminating the over 150-year-old George Stevens organ under the society's care. Gavin is very involved in the historical organ preservation scene, and is actively working on several fundraising projects for instruments across the Commonwealth. He is an active member of both the American Guild of Organists and the Organ Historical Society, and is on the board of directors for the Organ Festival of Worcester.
As a performer, Gavin has been heard at notable venues worldwide including Mechanics Hall (Worcester), Methuen Memorial Music Hall, Epsilon Spires (Brattleboro), il Duomo de Santi Pietro e Paolo (Castelnuovo di Garfagnana), St. Armands Key Lutheran Church (Sarasota), The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception (La Plata), the Cathedral of the Holy Cross (Boston) as well as other numerous locations in Europe, the US, and South America.
